Too warm for dogs in Anchorage
Alaska, the 49th state of the US: 12 dogs in a team, snow on the ground, sub-zero temperatures and racing on a sled. This is the set up for the 43rd Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. But there is very little snow on the ground and temperatures are above zero in southern Alaska. This is a racing disaster; snow has been imported in trucks to cover 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage for the starting spectacle.

luckily we just got about 8 inches of snow and subzero (F) temps just in time for the start of the race. I wonder if the race starting in Fairbanks will become more normal?
Also, it's weird to see an article about Alaska where the temperatures are in Celsius.
I've been off of this site for a couple days because I've been shoveling to get out of my driveway. My plow is stuck...
Dude you must be exhausted, a couple of days worth of shoveling!?! Your back must hate you right now! As for the Celsius thing... short of the US, most other countries use the metric system :)
my driveway is half a mile. I'm taking it easy, but I still have a long way to go.
