In all honestly bike riders should also pay attention to their surroundings as much as the drivers of cars. Whenever I see a cab pulling over I slow down my car just in case someone is going to get out on the traffic side of the car. Its common sense to be alert at all times for situations exactly like this.
Then these lanes shouldn't exist then. Clearly you would have to go slow the entire time.
Thats what happens when you put bike lanes on the outside edges of the street between the sidewalk and the car lanes. Maybe the bike lanes should be in the middle and have right of way always... hmm
Talk about bad luck
I'd rather just bike on the street. At least people pay attention to it.
