Microsoft forced to explain who really gets Windows 10 for free
Microsoft confused everyone about its free upgrade plans for Windows 10 last week. While it looked like everyone who tested Windows 10 will get a free copy, the reality is slightly more complex.

From what I get, you get Windows for free only if you accept pre-release builds, that are unstable, and while unlikely to do so, they may severely fuck up your computer. Just great...
But, if you already have a genuine version of 7, 8, or 8.1 and haven't opted into the preview program, you'll get it free on release. Am I reading that correctly?
That's the case if you don't upgrade from Windows 7/8 and instead upgrade from XP/Vista or do a clean install. If you are running (a genuine) Windows 7 or 8 copy at the moment then you are entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 10 without having to do the bug testing.

Who's going to accept the upgrade up to Windows 10 then? Im thinking about it but It'll be hell for compatibility.
