I'm surprised this was still illegal until now.
We still have a blasphemy law here in Ireland and it was only brought into law in 2009!!! The supreme court ruled that there was a constitutional requirement for a blasphemy law so it'll take a referendum to remove it. Thankfully though the law was left so vague that no one has ever been prosecuted and no one ever will either, people have actually tried to get arrested and prosecuted for blasphemy but none succeeded.
Wow, that's really surprising! Yeesssh... I've got SO many questions - but I'll limit it to just a handful.
Was the supreme court's decision fair? Like...was there actually something in the constitution that would require a blasphemy law? Or was it more of a stretch?
According to Wikipedia it's in the constitution https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blasphemy_law_in_the_Republic_of_Ireland
Finally another part of the world where I can sin to my hearts content.
The preceding comments display their thought processes. LOL
