    I guess they don't remember what happened when they tried removing the dollar menu... you start removing the things people do buy and suddenly you have horrible quarterly results and your franchise model starts going to shit...

    I'm honestly a little surprised at this decision of McDonald's. There are already ways to customize the Happy Meal to make it healthier for those who want the option (apple slices instead of fries), etc. The parents ought to have the choice there. If people are going to McDonald's to buy their kid a Happy Meal, it's usually for a treat and not an everyday thing, so the parent might want to order something that's more "fun" and less healthy on that particular occasion.
