This map depicts a world in which, unlike in our own in which Europe was blessed with luck, the Mongols managed to conquer the majority of Europe and turn it into their own domain, and Europe never full recovered their own identity from it, resulting in the map in the language you see here.

I think that the geographical borders are interesting; I can't image them being accurate by any factor than luck. Around the time of the Mongols, nobody could have predicted the events (including WWI and WWII) that would shape political geography. It's constantly changing and is completely unpredictable. I'm sure that some would be close, but it does feel very random. The description on deviantart explains a bit, but it only mentions Mongol-influenced changes. There would also have been internal conflict and border conflict and a whole host of other factors. They all just look so thoughtfully chosen that I can't help but wonder about the stories behind them.
