Winamp shutting down after over 15 years
The famous media player Winamp will shut down next month, over 15 years after its initial release. Though Winamp eventually lost popularity, in the late '90s and early 2000s it was one of the go-to media players for listening to local music or radio streams. That sucks! I have fond memories of winamp. Think I first used it in 1997 :(
I remember using it 2002 - 2003. Then again, I never really got into downloading music until reasonably priced legal options like Spotify came up.
Same approx 1998. I remember when they released that horrible multimedia winamp in like 2001 that no one wanted. After a few days they rolled back the changes and went back to a simple mp3 player.
I still use my winamp, but I have an ancient version without all the clutter and garbage that they've implemented over the years.
RIP winamp!
Goodbye Winamp :'(
All old versions will still be available, and I'll be using it for another 15 years. They can't stop me!
Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is about.. I've been using the same Winamp for the past 10 years. Never needed to upgrade to the newer versions because all they did was bloat the software even more with every update.
Can anyone suggest some strong alternatives, aside from iTunes and Windows Media Player?
Just keep using Winamp, it will still work.
