I think this will actually be more beneficial PR wise for the movement than even if she won a gold medal. If she had won, then gone back and made statements, it would've probably just been looked at as a celebrity supporting their movement. But instead, people see the extreme sacrifice she has made and are inspired by it, make a model out of it, etc.

I totally agree, but I don't think she had PR in mind at all when making the decision.
Oh, completely. I'm just speculating about the possible outcomes of the situation. I'm sure she did it for her own moral reasons!
