At best, theirs is a fractious relationship. But it seems that the two Koreas have been united by one thing - a love of chocolate. For a marshmallow chocolate pie has become so popular in North Korea that people are buying it for up to a day's pay on the black market after it has been smuggled out of the South.

It's my understanding that some N. Korean factory workers receive these (and other S. Korean food products) instead of wages. So for many of them, it's not about supplementing their income; selling this stuff is the only way they can afford their own necessities.
On a side note, I live in S. Korea and I think chocopies are kind of awful....
Poor guys don't have snacks in their country and have to resort to spending their live savings on them
