Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht sentenced to life in prison
After being found guilty of seven criminal counts, including drug trafficking and money laundering, Ross Ulbricht, the mastermind behind the illegal online marketplace known as Silk Road, was sentenced to life in prison by Judge Katherine Forrest.

Seems a bit stiff.. but what do I know?
They're trying to make an example out of him due to how hard it is to detect and prosecute this type of crime.
Anyone know what a life sentence could mean for him? Is it life without parol? or it it something like 20 years with the possibility of parole. They need to be a bit more specific.
Unless they mention specifically Life "without parole" I would assume he has the possibility of parole at some point.
The original article wasn't very specific as to what the actual sentence was. I linked a couple related articles that shed a little more light on the sentence as well as other details.
His actions are nothing compared to what the government does every day.
