Judging by the snow print evidence it looks like 2 birds decided to scrap it out, starting the fight in mid air and then falling to the ground. The winner flew away, the loser was so injured that he had to walk to find shelter. From the twisty tracks Im guessing the bird had some sort of injury to his wing.
