As a Mac user, I'm glad to see positive news about the platform. However, comparing 2Q14 to 2Q15, note that Apple's sales went from 4.4k to 5.1k while the total PC sales declined from 75k to 66k. There is an order of magnitude difference here. I wouldn't exactly call +0.7k a "surge".
Seems to me that the PC mass market is finding out that for their needs, phones and tablets are adequate so some people are putting off or deciding against upgrades — or people are simply unimpressed by the rate and/or direction of technological progress (Windows 8 hybrids, anyone?). However, even if the consumer mass market switches entirely to mobile, businesses will continue needing PCs for long time to come.
