Home Village Piano Medley - Various songs from Squaresoft videogames

A simple arrangement i put together back in 2007. Various SquareEnix songs are mashed up in this piece, and it ends off with a little bit from a familiar Nintendo song.

    From the article:

The 850 Pro is designed for power users and client PCs that may need higher performance with up to 550MBps sequential read and 520MBps sequential write rates and up to 100,000 random I/Os per second (IOPS). The 850 EVO SSD has slightly lower performance with 540MBps and 520MBps sequential read/write rates and up to 90,000 random IOPS.

Is the 850 Pro's additional 10MBps sequential write speed and 10,000 random IOPS worth the $200 premium over the EVO if I intend to use an SSD primarily for gaming?

Congratulations on your purchase! Borderlands 2 to me is the best in the series. I admire your restraint as well, Steam sales are like crack.

You and me both. It helps to find and follow users whose posts you tend to like, that way even if they participate in tribes that you aren't subscribed to, you'll still have content. But I see you've already done that, so carry on!

How exactly did you do this? Same as in Reddit, where you just have to type "/u/Splitfish"? Does "@Splitfish" also work?

    Edit: Yup and nope.

I've had this Snapzu account for a year. I first heard about it on Reddit, and when I started using it in 2014 it seemed like a ghost town so I went back. I can honestly say that there's enough content flowing in here now to keep me onboard, and as an active and contributing member at that.

This is pretty cool, and now I know what I'm doing on my free time this weekend! Note that if you want to do this yourself, you might need to cut enough of the twisted pair cables away at the ends and leave enough insulation sheath to fit in the RJ45 connector. Otherwise, the double layers of sheath and cables might not fit. And if you're using a CAT6 cable for this, you might want to pull out the cross webbing too.

I used to have an old Nokia E63 which was, for all intents and purposes, my very first smartphone. Sure, it didn't have a touchscreen or accelerometer/gyroscope features that seem to be the norm in smartphones now, but it carried me well into 2012 when I got my very first "modern" smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Nokia was on top of the mobile phone world before Apple, Blackberry and Samsung started coming into the picture, and you could easily see why. My E63 had features out the wazoo:

    1. A 2.36" display at 320x240px resolution
    2. A boatload of connectivity options including GPRS, EDGE, 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth
    3. Around 100 MB internal storage, and MicroSD card up to 16 GB officially (32 GB unofficially)
    4. A Micro-USB connector (very few phones had this at the time)
    5. A 2MP fixed-focus flash camera with video recording @ 320x240px and photos @ 1600x1200px
    6. And most importantly, a full Qwerty keyboard

With its included operating system, Symbian OS9.2 S60 3.1 Edition, and all the features listed above, this truly was a highly capable business phone. Its included software had essentials like a PDF viewer, Quick office with MS Office 2007 support (Word / Excel / Powerpoint editor), a WAP browser, and an email client. And thanks to the then prolific Symbian OS development scene, I also had apps that let me share my 3G data connection as a personal hotspot, browse the internet with synced bookmarks using Opera, chat via instant messenger apps such as Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, MSN, and even Whatsapp, play roguelike games such as Dweller (which work so much better with a physical keyboard than a touchscreen), and even use Spotify. I'm fairly certain that if Nokia had continued developing the Symbian OS, it would be bigger than the Windows app store.

While I do miss that little beast of a phone and the amazing keyboard it had, technology quickly left it behind. WiFi N and AC are here now, as well as HSDPA and LTE, leaving the old wireless connections in the dust. Mirroring displays via Miracast/AirPlay/Chromecast is super neat. Bigger, faster storage and processors allow for apps and features that simply aren't possible on my old Nokia E63. And ever since Swype came out on Android back when I had my Galaxy Note, I've become more and more efficient at typing/swyping on a touchscreen keyboard.

It's good to look back and think of our past gadgets and the "good times" we had with them once in a while. But improving our technology is what got humans from sticks and stones to silicon and lithium, so it behooves us to continue to adapt.

I don't buy games as often as I used to. Before I buy another game, I force myself to finish the one I'm currently playing. Hopefully I'l eventually build the willpower to go through 2 old games for every new game purchase, to help save even more and burn through my backlog at the same time.

For a more Reddit-like Front Page experience, you can turn off displaying comments in your feed page (snapzu.com/<USERNAME>/) by going to your Feed Preferences (snapzu.com/<USERNAME>/preferences) and unchecking "Comments." Note here that you can also uncheck the "Related Links" contribution type, and you won't see those in the feed anymore too. After doing this, my feed page makes a lot more sense to me, and is helping me adapt to Snapzu a lot more easily.

I'm a game designer! I broke into the game industry with a degree in English Literature, to a position that required 2 years experience in the related field (Game Design). I got it by dressing up my resume and catering it to the job; my personal blog became "gaming journalism," my hours of experience playing PC games became "keen understanding of basic level design principles," and my prior experience teaching English as a foreign language became "communicates ideas clearly and confidently to a wide variety of audiences." I paraphrase and simplify, but I hope the idea is clear!

The game was quietly cancelled in 2009, and saw NST fall from its top-tier status to become a smaller, digital-only studio.

The failure of this one game decided the fate of an entire studio. That's pretty heavy.

When a company says you need two years of experience, they don't really mean you need two years of experience. They just want something (in your background) for you get off to a running start on the job.

This is a huge point that job seekers should take to heart. The whole "Don't have job experience to get a job that needs experience" paradox is sorely misunderstood.
