(p.s. might post it to /t/blackberry, too)

I don't know, guys. It sort of feels like watching your ex girlfriend with another guy. Yeah, they seem to work okay together, but not as awesome as it works with BBOS10.

I moved from Android after Lollipop since I couldn't stand the direction that the OS went in. Got laggier, making the slightest configuration changes required me to dive through an endless funnel of menus and sub menus just to get to the right spot and find out they moved it. The thought of Android on BB just feels like a terrible step backwards in phone usability.

We'll see how it goes. I personally won't purchase an Android BB phone, but there seems to be a vocal number who claim that they will. I guess time will tell.

Seems to be locked it down? Haven't been able to add /t/blackberry to related snaps. Paging /u/canuck.

I think it's a shame that BB10 hasn't worked out for BlackBerry. It's a great OS (just like Web OS was), snappy, reliable and secure. Unfortunately, even with Android apps, it never really took off, and it doesn't seem like its market share is picking up anytime soon. I don't think Android is that bad, in fact, I love how customizable it is. The idea of an Android powered BlackBerry Venice is very enticing to me, but with BlackBerry likely wanting to keep it secure, I don't think we'd be able to root, or install custom ROMs on the device, which negates what I like about Android, the ability to customize and tweak the device.

Woops. Wasn't aware that /r/blackberry didn't allow posts. Apologies. Yeah, perhaps /u/canuck might have some input.

With the constant headlines about IOS and Android security problems, I hope that an intelligent, sober, security-conscious Blackberry jumps into the gap and unrolls a kick-ass replacement to the Z30 which gives superb battery life, flexibility to run Android applications, as well as enterprise-class security features that people deserve.

Sure, there's devices like Blackphone, but the moment you take away Android's extreme flexibility to make it more secure, you automatically toss out all the things that make it fun to use (e.g. custom rom's). Stock Android, properly locked down, is a pretty shitty OS. BBOS10 is a tightly locked down wonder.

Here's hoping they are around for a long time to come. In whatever form they take.
