What is the real reason we sleep?
It is surprisingly hard to pin down why we snooze, partly because sleep does so many good things that we can't tell which is the crucial one

I think this captures a major point of the article. Sleep is often seen as an action that helps the brain store memories and help the body itself recover.

They use breathing as an example, which is great because it makes it easy to understand. We evolved to learn speech patterns and linguistic ques for survival. This quote also makes me wonder what evolution will repurpose next...
