I have cats. Their entire reaction - even to the enormous fireworks extravaganza that happened in the park just down the road - was annoyance, like "Hey assholes, do you mind? I'm trying to take a nap."
If they were a people, they would totally call the cops and bitch.
You mean just like my neighbors?
I volunteered to take some people to dialysis yesterday before I realized it was the 4th, so I ended up cat sitting for my niece when I was done. That kitten couldn't give 2 craps about the fireworks.
My cats can support fireworks, but they scare if there is someone at the door. They run under my bed when the bell sounds and stay a long time. It's legal to buy fireworks here (Spain), they suffer that noise very often...
My big cat does the same thing.
Doorbell? OMG, run awaaaaay!
House-shaking fireworks finale? Ugh. I'm napping, here! Damn kids. [back to sleep]
Pets in closet! Check!

Growing up we adopted a dog from a rescue agency and man this dog had gotten the worst of it. He had permanent hip dysplasia, a crooked tail from it having been broken in multiple places and was quite possibly the most neurotic animal you could ever meet, but he was a sweet heart.
The Fourth was always the worst day of the year for him. I would remember gaming on my Dad's computer in the basement and he would come and hide under the desk I was at and I would pet him and give him treats while the fireworks were going off.
My dog is currently lying between the coffee table and the couch. He got earlier and started hiding under the kitchen table. Luckily, I have a family member staying around him, so I think he's fine.
Gerbils. Not many people think of them but they have just pure looks of fear throughout the night.
Haha, my dog is completely nonplussed. "Fireworks? Booms? Are there people to pet me? Can I go?"
Yeah, my old dog was like this. She was so nonchalant about booming sounds such as fireworks and thunder that at first I wondered if she was a bit deaf. Us rustling around in the kitchen and making meals soon disproved that though.
My big scary German Shepherd hid under a table behind a chair. She's the biggest little dog I know
I live in a city where fireworks aren't allowed so I guess this doesn't apply to me. :D
Really? What city is that if I may ask? I really wish Berlin had something like this, it is absolute chaos here every year..
Definitely spent a good hour huddled up with my older dog in our closet tonight, haha.
We are in a state where it is legal to buy fireworks. I'm pretty sure it is the fireing in all directions that got my puppy.
I once had hermit crabs that ate each other. Also once we made Lego house for them and I made a door. While no one noticed, one sneaked out and we had to tread around the house while we looked so we didn't squish it.
