Yes. Oddly, we are not taught about the 13th Amendment in school. Oh, they touch on it- 'Hey, LOOK! Lincoln ended slavery with the 13th Amendment! But, don't actually read the clause, just take our word for it.'

So, what does the 13th Amendment actually say? Let's take a look-

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

HOLY SHIT!!! That's a pretty big hole. Actually, it's not a hole, it completely obliterated anything resembling an end to slavery. There was never an end to slavery, nor was there meant to be an end to slavery. Lincoln was a fraud, let's not forget- in the end, he was a lawyer and a politician, two of the most vile professions in America. If Lincoln truly wanted to end slavery he would never have allowed that glaring exception. Was he so naive that he thought a 'loophole' like that would not be abused? I think not. I refuse to give him a pass like that, especially considering the destroyed lives that can be directly laid at his feet.

With that said, the 13th Amendment needs to be amended. The 13th Amendment is at the core of the disgusting private prison industry. Eliminate that exception, and the private prison industry goes away. Then we need to address Global-Tel Link and Aramark. The profit-sharing plan between jails/prisons and the private companies needs to end yesterday. They are literally stealing money from the poorest and most disenfranchised people in our society. The vast majority of people in jails and prisons are there for non-violent drug crimes; they should not be in jail. It's beyond outrageous that CCA, Geo Group, Aramark and Global-Tel Link have so compromised our system that they are making billions of dollars from jailing people who should not be there.

Aramark purposely feeds inedible food to prisoners so that the prisoners have to order canteen just to mai...

I just had to pause it at the point where 'they' used Sesame Street to explain incarceration to kids. That made me profoundly sad. I wonder if any other nation on the planet feels a need to explain to their children what prison is because the odds are that they plan to put their parents there someday? How absolutely disgusting is that? On to the rest of the video...

See kids, when we literally enforce modern slavery to support our greed driven capitalistic model of society, you have to say good bye to mommy and daddy sometimes while they go off to for profit prison. It's ok kids, it's totally normal and some day some of you will become a part of this fantastic model!

            Yep, pretty fucking disgusting.

Sorry, but what a click-batey title.

I'm mean seriously? 'No One' is talking about? I've seen an article about this at least once a month for the past year.

Ohhh man. Sorry about that. I should mention it's a song by System of a Down called Prison, and it's pretty violent, for any poor souls who don't know what is coming.

Oh I had plenty chances to stop listening before it got "violent"!

that state and local governments maintain a certain occupancy rate – usually 90 percent – or require taxpayers to pay for empty beds.

The crap big companies can get away with is just astounding!

To be fair, it still costs money to operate an empty prison.
