This is despicable. I don't want to sound preachy here but this is exactly why people used to boycott things.
Just don't buy a smartTV and if you do? Do the research, make sure its not a company that is tracking you. Those companies will get more money and keep doing what they are doing. The Big Guys will loose out and when they see their SmartTV division has flopped they'll be able to see why.
Oh look, another machine built to advertise at me.
No thanks.
I'm not opposed to the idea of a Smart TV, but if it doesn't bring any additional value to my television watching experience (and only shoves more ads down my eye-holes) I see no point in owning one. My Remix Mini does a good enough job letting me surf the web in my living room.
It has gotten increasingly harder to find a TV that isn't "smart" and the worst part of all electronics is that you don't get those ToS agreements until after the product is open and setup, by that time it's yours and non-returnable even if you disagree. There comes a time when you turn to Amazon or Roku and say I want your device and don't use the Smart functions of the TV. I hate the fact Samsung is now listening in with the mic on the remotes and stuff, scary.

I'm OK with that, as long as I can get the TV for free.
