I can only speak for myself on the use of statins. My kidneys have never filtered the bad stuff out of me the way normal kidneys do,as a result I have had to take statins for years as well as other blood pressure drugs. I had very high cholesterol readings I have never had side effects from any of the statins I have taken to the present date. I have been taking them for many years. After reading this article I would advise anyone taking these drugs not to stop taking the drug until consulting your doctor.

    Hey @Gozzin and @Dino55

Just wanted to quickly say sorry if I offended you. I share your concern that many drugs are overprescribed and that pharmaceutical industry has influence over trials etc. We all should be informed, and it's okay to decide not to take a drug or a treatment. What gets me is that often many newspapers and magazines makes sensationalist stories that are only loosely based in science and this often confuses and scares people. And I do not want these kind of articles to proliferate and further confuse and scare all of us.

I hope you both find healthcare professionals that you trust and make decisions that only benefit your health with or without statins ;)

Well I told my Dr. flat out I was not taking them again. No way am I taking something that can cause diabetes, among other things. The latest news on these drugs is definitely not encouraging.
