Invade the bodies of the host species through ingestion.
At a point of critical mass ( eg, 2 billion ingested baby octopuses) they all come bursting out a'la Alien as full size adults at the same time. This would equate to around 1 octopus per family. They've got eight arms so they would be able to hold on to each family member and await further orders from the Octopus Leadership.
All I know is, they taste good. Especially baby ones.
This is why they are going to invade us!
