I have recently watched the film Spotlight. The story talks about how the Boston Globe uncovers the church´s scheme to silence thousands of cases of child abuse perpetrated by catholic priests. I wonder how many people questioned at the time (around 2001) when the news got out how it looked suspicious how many victims appeared "out of nowhere". I wonder how many people claimed that the church would never be involved with sexual abuse on children and it was all a conspiracy to sell more papers. I wonder how many of those children were ridiculed and ostracized when they tried to tell the truth. I wonder how many ended their lives and how many were strong enough to keep their sanity.

I like to think of myself as someone fairly courageous, but I have no idea what I would do if I was in their shoes. Spotlight. What a great movie.
