Agreed, I was under the impression it was an expansion of the universe as in the original movie Bill Murray even mentions "the franchise rights" making them rich.
It would have made an awesome movie where there's more Ghostbuster teams in other parts of the world but I'm not sure how i feel about it being a reboot :(
