Kidding aside, there's zero shock to that. Granted every pet has a different personality, but on average, yeah, cats are very independent. Why I love cats more than dogs. If they hang out with you, it's cause they actually like you :)
Exactly why I like cats. I can leave them alone for a night and they will be fine... maybe too fine. Tons of cats love it when you are around them, but out of sight, out of mind runs deep with them.
