10 years ago+4 4 0Hello /t/aquariums, whats your dream fish or aquarium set-up?
I spend a lot of time daydreaming about fish and aquariums. So much so, that I often have several plans for future set-ups. I thought we could get a discussion going about what kind of tank people would love to have.
What size would it be? What inhabitants would you put in it? Any other special features?
I'll go first. My dream tank is a freshwater planted tank for a Bowfin. These fish get pretty large. A full grown adult can get on average of 20-25 inches or 50-64cm. So this tank would need to be massive. Since this is a dream tank I'll say its 300-500 gallons at least. Their ideal habitat are vegetated lowland rivers and lakes. I would plant this tank with large robust species and throw in some nice twisted driftwood. After all of that I would put in a large school of fish that I wouldn't mind the bowfin eating. Bowfin are from the US. I know recently pet stores have been stocking [Fat Head Minnows "Rosey Red Feeder Fish” (Pimephales promelas)]. These little fish are native to the same region of the US as Bowfin, are being captivity propagated, and are likely a natural prey species for Bowfin. Alright /t/aquariums, what does your dream look like?
