Another" Internet of Things" idea that looks great at first.
I'm betting the first robbery via hack happens in less than a month.
At first I figured this would be awesome, until I realized that instead of spending that money on "security cameras, etc" for $250, you can get a decent enough steel box that's bolted down where they can just drop packages into that using the same concept. Either way, sometimes these wacky ideas give birth to decent ones, so we will see how it plays out.
From a security standpoint, that makes a lot more sense.
Of course, sometimes Amazon gets a little crazy with their boxes. I once got a SD card for my camera in a 3 foot long tube.
Hah, I bet these guys use whatever they have available. But an SD card in a 3 foot long tube is nuts.
What the? Hell no.
I too had to quickly double check if it was April 1st.
Ohhhhhhhhhh.
I'm sure this was well thought out. Nothing could possibly go wrong...
I imagine day one is when the complaints that the delivery driver stole something will start rolling in. Maybe a better system is for Amazon to sell those lockboxes that you attach to your porch, the post office and you have a key and the package is left in the box and only you can get to it. That seems like a much better system.
We have a long way to go until we all have a replicator.
