Right there with you. When you said Clinton couldn't beat Trump, most thought you were supporting that fool. While that was never what you meant, that's all they could understand. So you can take some comfort knowing that a lot of what looks like support for Trump right now — and what's put you off democracy altogether — is people opting for the less effective of the evils on offer. One ignores that at their peril.
Edit: And I say that as someone that doesn't think the U.S. Civil War ended in 1865.
