    I reacted negatively to both of the incidents described in the article. But in agreement with what you said, I can't imagine having to face that kind of thing every day and still be able to walk out of there and feel happy about anything. I've read other articles and things about EMTs and what not and how the ones that thrive in the profession do have what outsiders would call this sort of dark/twisted sense of humor. But really it's to get through some of the horrors of their job.

      I've known a few ambulance volunteers. They coped with humor, like perfume on a mask.
