This is one reason why I'm not too enamored of predictions about artificial intelligence or transhumanism where we download our consciousness to machines: we still don't have a rigorous definition of what these things are, which complicates our attempts to artificially replicate it.
More, now, than ‘hubris,’ ‘arrogance,’ and ‘obligatory twist ending,‘ what transhumanism brings to mind for me lately is ‘conceit.’
