I'm not entirely sure. It doesn't look like using the Euro is necessary for EU membership, since the UK, Sweden, and Denmark are all EU members but use their own currency.
Also Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic. I wonder how many of these will want to start using the Euro after watching Greece.

UK and Denmark have opt outs, Sweden is obligated to join the Euro, but European Commission is not pressing the issue.
Who knows? This has never happened to a country in the Eurozone or EU.
