Critics Wonder Whether Pennies Make Sense Anymore
Is it finally time to get rid of the penny? The question was put to the top currency official in the country this week after comedian John Oliver took a swing at pennies on his TV show. "Two percent of Americans admitted to regularly throwing pennies in the garbage, which means the U.S. Mint is spending millions to make garbage," Oliver said.

We really should stop making pennies. Not ban them or anything, Just turn the press off.
We had the end of the penny a couple of years ago and just round up or down based on the 5 cents. I have to say, my pockets have never been so thankful.
Rounding to the nearest .05 seems arbitrary and arguably complicates things even more.
I'd say wait until the penny is so worthless that we can just nuke the nickel too and chop a decimal off so the dime is the new penny. It's nice and small too so it really is suited to being the smallest denomination.
IDK, about more complicated. It works within our 10 digit system and it cuts out 8 other digits to deal with.
But I do like the idea of dimes being the smallest denomination; I personally find them the cutest.
Yeah, even when I was hella broke, pennies weren't troubling math they caused.
It is disturbing to me that anyone throws out money
