Blackrock is an asset manager. They don't own the assets they manage, nor do they define the mandates under which capital is deployed. Ex: a state pension fund will use Blackrock funds as Lego blocks for a portfolio. Blackrock gets a few basis points of management fees (since this is the race they won - the race to the bottom). Its one of the the most boring industries in the world of finance.

Aladdin is portfolio management software. That section is akin to raging against Excel or a Bloomberg Terminal, what an utterly misinformed video.

Rounding to the nearest .05 seems arbitrary and arguably complicates things even more.

I'd say wait until the penny is so worthless that we can just nuke the nickel too and chop a decimal off so the dime is the new penny. It's nice and small too so it really is suited to being the smallest denomination.

You know, a lot of people don't care about paying $200 more for a device they use every day. People who buy apple know how pricey the products are, it's not like they're all ignorant. Android is pervasive and heavily advertised. I just don't think that's the main story-line behind Apple's profit margin on their devices.

What's remarkable is the power that Apple has over carriers in regards to how heavily they subsidize Apple products. It's been that way ever since they played hardball with the carriers when the original iPhone released. They never relinquished that power and they suck tons of profit from giant telecoms who gave in to their pricing.
