What a great way to start off the article... call your readers paranoid. I think a person is naive, foolish, and willfully ignorant if they believe that only benevolent individuals and entities will be able to access our data through the proliferation of RFID chips. Instead of paranoid, maybe the author should have said "prudent" or "cautious".
