I agree with that statement. I don't know any other knitters, and taught myself out of books (back before youtube was a thing) It'd be nice if I could find someone to show me spinning because I'm really just kind of flying by the seat of my pants :)
I'm also a self-taught knitter (and crocheter) who learned from books. Videos do make it a lot easier to learn, and I now know someone else who knits, so that's been a help. It's hard to learn on your own. You're never quite sure if you're doing things correctly, because there is no one to tell you. I think it's great that you're going for it anyway! I've taught myself loads of things that way, and I usually find someone to share knowledge with me eventually. I wish you luck with your spinning. You're doing well so far, so keep it up! :)
