Don't underestimate yourself! As for the type of wood that may work best - I would stay away from any type of pine. I have never worked with Aspen, but heard it doesn't last long. If I was to pick one of the four you listed, I think I would go with Birch. It's a bit on the tough side but it will get the job done.
