I was a multimedia major in college and we spent a ton of time on Flash. Some of the best websites aesthetically, were flash based. They were heavily stylized and you could convey more meaning. That said, they were resource hogs and you usually had to let it load for a bit to get it to load right. A poorly made Flash site could be one of the most worthless things man ever created. They were made for desktops with higher speed connections, it was never designed for a mobile interface or cellular speed connections. Sadly, I see myself later in life describing Flash to my kids they way people describe 8 tracks.
