"Nearly 50 teens" signing anything, anywhere is hardly news.
50 teens anywhere caring enough about peace to face prison IS news. Nice attempt at trying to downplay the significance of their courageous act.
Refusing to serve in something they don't believe in is certainly within their rights as human beings. However, so is going to prison for not following the law. Looks like refusal to serve seems to have a much longer and complex history in Israel than it does in the US.
