Not to rain on your parade or anything, but your drivers license is owned by the state, not by you. Defacing it in any way may result in unanticipated penalties.
In several jurisdictions (a quick search should tell you which), a drivers license with a hole punched (also called "clipped") means it's no longer valid as a drivers license. Still works as a photo ID, but I wouldn't want to get pulled over by a cop and hand him that.
Quick edit: If you hate your wallet and need another solution, I can highly recommend a Big Banjee wrist wallet. I've used one over the past couple of years to hold cards, licenses, car keys, etc. on runs, bike trips, vacations, everything. Stretchy, durable, and won't void your drivers license.
Yeah. Georgia's law states that it can't be "defaced" or "altered." With the vague wording, it really depends on whether the cop wants to be a jerk or not. I was careful to avoid making the hole over anything important (e.g. mag stripe, data, seal, etc.).
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I can't wear anything on my wrist.
