I saw a study maybe a few years back where interviews were done in a way that the interview panel couldn't see the person they were interviewing. I can't seem to find it to link at the minute.
there was also the report on how orchestras use Blind Interviews to select new members. They ended up hiring many more women this way though I don't think it mentioned anything about minority members. - LINK
Exactly. if there's one particular place where people in the business make extremely shallow snappy judgements it's the modern music industry. Gone are the days were interesting looking individuals who could really belt one out and/or rock an instrument were big stars and now we have clean generic manufactured cookie cutter kids giving us generic cookie cutter music.
You'd think a guy who looks like Tom Jones would know better than to be surprised great singers can look unique.
