The sugar subsidies and proposed sugar tax is ridiculous, I 100% agree!! I have drastically cut down on sugar intake solely for reasons of economic policy, not for health reasons. I am enjoying increased health as a really nice side effect though! I don't drink sodas any more, and I try to avoid sweet treats and ready-made foods that have sugar in them... I'll still use sugar if I'm doing any baking, but I'm so busy that it doesn't happen often. I treat sugar (or foods containing sugar) as if it cost $10 a bag instead of $2 a bag, and that more or less limits my intake that way. We don't even NEED sugar to eat healthy meals. I can cook a nice dinner of roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and carrots without involving the sugar industry at all.

Yes, I know that was a side thing to your main point, Appaloosa, but it was nice to see someone who also is concerned about economic policy relating to the sugar industry.

I cut out sugar for health reasons when I read up on dieting.. came across Atkins which then led me on the sugar path and government involvement....and the scam the sugar sin tax...incredible.
