Over 25 million accounts stolen after Mail.ru forums hacked
Over 25 million accounts associated with forums hosted by Russian internet giant Mail.ru have been stolen by hackers.Two hackers carried out attacks on three separate game-related forums in July and August. One forum alone accounted for almost half of the breached data -- a little under 13 million records; the other two forums make up over 12 million records.

Parisians set to go car-free for one day next month
The streets of Paris will look completely different late next month. City officials have announced a plan to enforce a daylong car ban on Sunday, September 25. Parisians will need to leave their car keys at the door from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Last year’s ban was limited to a handful of neighborhoods in the heart of the city, but this year’s has been expanded to include a majority of the districts in central Paris. The city hall predicts that 400 miles’ worth of pavement — including the most touristic areas — will be mostly car-free on the 25th.

Apple's official statement on the EU ruling against its Irish tax arrangements tells you all you need to know about what is at stake: You can have taxes or you can have jobs, but Apple is in no mood to deliver both. After learning on Tuesday morning that the EU expects Apple to pay 13 billion euros — equal to 11 billion pounds or $14.5 billion — in back taxes, the company said, "It will have a profound and harmful effect on investment and job creation in Europe."

The extradition may be televised: Dotcom wants to livestream trial
Kim Dotcom’s extradition appeal with the New Zealand High Court isn’t far off now, with a planned six weeks set aside for the hearing. Because of international interest in it, Dotcom has requested it be live streamed around the world, but the government wants to stop that and has counter-requested that the court not allow it.
