What this tribe is for:

Sharing musical discoveries you are excited about
Promoting reasonable and engaging discussion about smaller artists and music discovery
Giving legitimate artists who are outside the big money 'marketing machine' a chance to shine

What this tribe is not for:

Sharing your favorite music from big-name artists, again
Demonizing popular artists, or big music (they have their place too!)
Propagating elitist attitudes towards music (that's just not fun)
Arguing over what constitutes 'underdog' or 'big-name'

So, how do we define an 'underdog'? This is a purposefully loose term. It is not up to individual, self-appointed arbiters to make this call. As a guide, think of it like this: if you mentioned the artist at an office in which you worked and would expect blank looks from most people, it's probably appropriate for this tribe.

Can I promote my own music on here? In a word, yes. In more words, within reason. This is not designed to be your own personal promotional tool, so don't post every week with your latest YouTube ballad or EDM masterpiece. Realistically, it's expected that the majority of artists will be professional or semi-professional. Think about quality. Are you the only person that knows about this? Can the music be purchased or readily accessed outside of SoundCloud or YT? Are you posting because you're actually excited to share the content with others?

In short: post cool things, don't be selfish, have fun.
