German trains collide near Duesseldorf, several people injured
Several people were injured in a train crash on Tuesday near the German city of Duesseldorf, fire department and police spokesmen said. Rail operator Deutsche Bahn said a passenger train of the regional provider National Express drove into a freight train from DB Cargo about 1830 GMT in the town of Meerbusch. The Meerbusch fire department said up to 150 passengers were on the train and that 5 people suffered injuries.

It's official! Sweden names new train Trainy McTrainface
It is actually happening. From Tuesday Sweden will officially have a train called Trainy McTrainface, set to get his unusual name at a ceremony today. As The Local reported earlier this year, a competition to name transport company MTR Express' new express trains on the Stockholm-Gothenburg line resulted in Trainy McTrainface emerging as the winner.

A public vote to name four trains running between the Swedish cities of Stockholm and Gothenburg has resulted in one of the four being called Trainy McTrainface in an echo of the name chosen by the British public for the new polar research vessel. Trainy McTrainface received 49% of the votes in a poll, jointly run by Swedish rail company MTR Express and Swedish newspaper Metro. That placed it well ahead the other three options: Hakan, Miriam and Poseidon.
