Australian physics student works out 'paradox-free' time travel
A young University of Queensland student says he has found a way to "square the numbers" and prove that "paradox-free" time travel is theoretically possible in our universe. From Back To The Future to Terminator to 12 Monkeys, stories dealing with time travel invariably have had to grapple with an age-old head-scratcher.

Time Travel Without Mind-Bending Paradoxes Is Possible, Mathematical Modeling Suggests
“Agents could have free choice to make any action they wanted and no paradox would arise because the events just adjust themselves to remain consistent," said study author Germain Tobar.

A Physicist Has Come Up With Math That Makes 'Paradox-Free' Time Travel Plausible
No one has yet managed to travel through time – at least to our knowledge – but the question of whether or not such a feat would be theoretically possible continues to fascinate scientists.

Astrophysicist says he knows how to build a time machine
Astrophysicist Ron Mallett believes he’s found a way to travel back in time — theoretically. The tenured University of Connecticut physics professor recently told CNN that he’s written a scientific equation that could serve as the foundation for an actual time machine. He’s even built a prototype device to illustrate a key component of his theory — though Mallett’s peers remain unconvinced that his time machine will ever come to fruition.

5 Times That People Claimed to Be Real-Life Time Travelers
Time travel as we see it in movies—using DeLoreans, phone booths, hot tubs, and the like—obviously doesn’t exist. But throughout history, people have insisted that they somehow managed to do it. Though most of their wild tales were eventually disproven, the stories are still incredible. Here are five of the most memorable.

Physicists Send Particles Of Light Into The Past, Proving Time Travel Is Possible!
Scientists from the University of Queensland, Australia, have used single particles of light (photons) to simulate quantum particles travelling through time. They showed that one photon can pass through a wormhole and then interact with its older self. Their findings were published in Nature Communications.

On Optimism and Despair

Can We Escape from Time?
We have grown very used to the idea of time travel, as explored and exploited in so many movies and TV series and so much fiction. Although it feels like it’s been around forever, it isn’t an ancient archetypal story but a newborn myth, created by H.G. Wells in his 1895 novel The Time Machine. By John Lanchester.
