Yes she did. Bruce Jenner was a super athlete in his day, a household name really on the box of wheaties and everything. Sure his fame dwindled after he stopped competing but the way i see it since this award is sport/athlete related this could go down as a very important moment in the world of sports. Letting kids know that you don't have to hide who you are no matter the circumstance, no matter how "big" you are or were in sports.
Yeah but Bruce Jenner hasn't competed in years; it's not like this was a current NBA/MLB/NFL player who came out and said that he was transitioning, and was still going to play. To most people nowadays, Bruce Jenner was a reality tv star not a sports icon, in fact the only reason kids even have a clue who Bruce Jenner was is because of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians".
The sports element aside, Caitlyn Jenner did an interview with Diane Sawyer and was on the cover of Vanity Fair, now while some might consider that courageous in and of itself (I don't), it's certainly not award worthy when you consider some of the other potential recipients (most notably, Lauren Hill).
