Kaufman officer in hot water for act of kindness
A police officer in Kaufman is now facing an internal investigation after he showed some goodwill to a shoplifting suspect. According to Kaufman Police, that officer responded to a call Wednesday at Wal-Mart, where a male suspect was detained inside for trying to steal some food and a drink. Officials say the suspect told the officer he had not eaten in two days and stole the items because he was hungry.

Father Shoots Robber Who Pointed Gun at His Children
A father fatally shot an armed robber who threatened him and his family at a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in San Antonio, Texas. Officers told Fox San Antonio that 19-year-old Andrews Herrera was killed after he approached Carlos Molina, 32, just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. Molina was eating at the fried chicken chain with his family when Herrera demanded that he hand over his property and threatened his children with a gun, police say.

DNA sketch leads to suspect confession in Texas slaying
After her oldest daughter was killed in May 2016, Michelle McDaniel and the rest of her family isolated themselves in their small Texas town out of fear that the unknown killer could be standing in line with them at the grocery store or passing them on the street. Then early last month, Brown County sheriff's investigators sent McDaniel a sketch of the man they suspected in her daughter's death, despite having no witnesses. The sketch was created using DNA found at the crime scene; a private lab used the sample to predict the shape of the killer's face, his skin tone, eye color and hair color.

Fires deliberately set inside Texas Walmart
A suspected arson attack at a Texas Walmart was caught on camera Wednesday. Investigators said someone set two fires inside the store. Jackie Sinclair said she was doing some last-minute Thanksgiving shopping when a Walmart employee walked by frantically. Sinclair said she saw the massive flames and pulled out her cellphone to record. "I was like hang on let me show the kids," Sinclair said. "I'm one of those moms - I show my kids everything."
