More than half of French people believe the government could do more to stop terror attacks, according to a poll published this week, six days after fresh bloodshed in the country. Fifty-eight percent of respondents said that French President Emmanuel Macron and his administration were not using "all the necessary means in the fight against the terrorist threat in France," according to the study by the Elabe polling group.

Eight people have been found guilty of being members of a right-wing terror organization by a court in Germany. A federal court in Dresden handed down the verdict Wednesday after a yearlong trial of members of the so-called "Freital Group," a terror cell founded in eastern Germany in 2015 accused of firebombing two refugee homes and an office and car belonging to the left-wing, pro-immigration Die Linke party.

Police said a homemade explosive device was the item discovered in a backpack at Pine View High School Monday, that forced the evacuation of the school. Police said if the device had detonated, it would have caused significant injury or death. Police have a suspect in custody. A warrant served at the male juvenile's home and items were found consistent with the materials used to build the device. Police also said the suspect had been researching information and expressing interest in ISIS and promoting the organization.

In the series of Abbottabad files, discovered in Osama bin Laden's house which was raided by the US military in Abbottabad, northern Pakistan in 2011, one document has exposed particularly sensitive information. It reveals that al-Qaeda targeted “common” and “ignorant” recruits worldwide, as stated by the group’s Libyan military commander Abu Yahya al-Libi. Abu Yahya was al-Qaeda’s second-in-command after Ayman al-Zawahri and was killed in a US drone attack in the North Waziristan region of Pakistan.

Lloyd Gunton, 17, researched security for a Justin Bieber gig in Cardiff and wrote a “martyrdom letter”.

Hundreds of armed police are guarding the Brussels court where the trial of Salah Abdeslam, the prime suspect behind the November 2015 Paris attacks, opens today after his secret transfer from a prison outside the French capital. Mr Abdeslam, a French national of Moroccan descent, is being tried on charges of terrorism, possession of weapons and attempted murder during a shoot-out with police in Brussels three days before his arrest in March 2016.

Twin brothers have been arrested in New York City on explosives charges for making a bomb, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News. The two arrests were made in The Bronx, the sources aid. Investigators recovered bomb-making materials as part of the investigation.

A sleeping father was unaware he had been stabbed in the neck until he woke in pain following an alleged 'ISIS-inspired attack' in Melbourne. Roger Singaravelu, a dedicated nurse, was allegedly stabbed by an international student wearing a burqa at his home in Mill Park, north-east of Melbourne’s CBD, about 4.25pm yesterday.

The BBC estimate, which it said was based on conversations with more than 1,200 individual local sources in all districts of the South Asian country, was significantly higher than the most recent assessment by the NATO-led coalition of the Taliban’s presence. The coalition said on Tuesday that the Taliban contested or controlled only 44 percent of Afghan districts as of October 2017.

At least 95 people have been killed and 158 were wounded in a powerful suicide blast in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The Taliban claimed responsibility for Saturday's assault, the third major attacks in the past seven days. Attackers blew up an explosives-packed ambulance near an interior ministry building on a busy and heavily-guarded street in Kabul's centre at lunch time. The Jamhuriat hospital, government offices, businesses and a school are close to the site of the blast.
