Taco Bell tests 30-day taco subscription to drive more frequent visits
The newest subscription service isn’t to stream TV shows or movies. It’s for Taco Bell’s tacos. Customers with the Taco Lover’s Pass can order one crunchy taco, soft taco, spicy potato soft taco or Doritos Locos taco per day for 30 days straight on the chain’s app. The cost of the pass ranges from $5 to $10 a month, depending on the location. Taco Bell is slashing potatoes from the menu, to the horror of some vegetarian and vegan customers. Behind the Scenes in Taco Bell's Insane Food Development Lab
From maybe 10FT away, the Naked Chicken Chalupa looks like a regular taco. The crispy shell might be a little thicker than normal, but the crown of shredded lettuce and diced tomato gives it a distinct air of quasi-Mexican legitimacy. Get a little closer, though, and you'll see that the taco shell is not a shell at all: it's a piece of fried chicken. Taco Bell's Secret Recipe for New Products
One Saturday morning in January 2013, Heather Mottershaw was at home scrolling through status updates on Facebook when a photo caught her eye. A friend had uploaded a picture of his soon-to-be-devoured meal at a restaurant, which Mottershaw describes as a folded-over waffle sandwich filled with eggs and avocados and other fixings you’d expect in a Southern California meal. “I went, huh, that’s an interesting idea,” she says.

Taco Bell Rolls Out Breakfast Waffle Tacos Nationwide
Earlier this year, we posted that fast food brand Taco Bell had introduced breakfast Waffle Tacos to one of their Southern California locations as a test market item. It’s now being reported that they are going to roll out this menu item — which is a folded waffle (the ‘taco shell’) stuffed with sausage and scrambled eggs served with a side of syrup — to an additional 100 locations nationwide starting August 8th. AP has more of the story.
