Following great reception to another season of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers have indicated that work on Season 3 is already underway. With this season exploring the connection of Will Byers to the dark realm called the Upside Down, the ever-changing dynamic of the people of Hawkins, Indiana in keeping its deadly secrets, and new monsters encroaching on the real world, co-creator Ross Duffer stated that juggling these multiple storylines will remain key to maintaining the franchise’s momentum.

The North Carolina–bred brothers were born in 1984 — a year after the show's setting — and, while they have murky recollections of Cold War anxiety, they grew up playing Magic: The Gathering more than Dungeons & Dragons. "We were like, 'Shit, the kids in the show can't be playing Magic: The Gathering; it hasn't been invented yet,'" Matt says with a laugh. "My brother and I played D&D. We just weren't particularly great at it."

The first season of Stranger Things seemingly materialized from nowhere: an unhyped show from a pair of obscure creators who nonetheless had the pretensions to bill themselves as “The Duffer Brothers,” starring a cast of unknown kids (plus Winona Ryder and Matthew Modine in supporting roles), paying tribute to the Duffers’ favorite sci-fi, horror, and fantasy stories of the ’80s, that somehow became one of the most beloved, talked-about shows of last year. The surprise of it was nearly as appealing as Stranger Things itself — which managed to be so much more than an exercise in nostalgia...

Yes, the rumors have been officially confirmed. Last week, the above photos began circulating around the net, suggesting that Netflix was finally going to be bringing the first season of “Stranger Things” to DVD/Blu-ray… in retro-style, VHS-inspired packaging! We were holding off on reporting until we got official word, which we’ve just received tonight.

You thought 1983 was strange...

Since its debut back in 2016, Stranger Things has taken the world by storm, with fans all over the planet doing various and crazy things to pay homage to the franchise. Back in August, a bar in Chicago named Emporium Arcade Bar has launched a pop-up bar called “The Upside Down,” selling Stranger Things memorabilia and themed drinks. Unsurprisingly, Netflix got aware of the bar and sent a cease and desist letter to the owners. It’s a very cool and mellow letter, though!

The second season of “Stranger Things” is arriving just in time for us to binge it over the course of Halloween weekend, and we cannot wait. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer are just as excited for us to check it out, but they have one simple request before it arrives. The motion-smoothing setting on your TV. Turn. It. Off.

The premiere season of ‘Stranger Things’ took the world by storm, proving to be one of the biggest players in the industry. Prior to releasing season 2, Netflix is anticipating the continued success of the show and has in-turn, merited the science-fiction drama a third season. That could not be the end either, with the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer stating that they have a 5 season plan in mind for the future.

There’s no question Matt and Ross Duffer proudly own their geek credentials — they translated their passion for ’80s movies into the Netflix smash hit “Stranger Things,” which they created, wrote, directed and executive produced. But the Duffer Brothers — as they like to be called professionally — have never been to Comic-Con. “We have no idea what we’re walking into,” admits Matt Duffer. But they’ve got a willing tour guide in their own wunderkind star, Millie Bobby Brown, who at 13 is a veteran of 25 of the fan-centric events. “She’s going to have to walk us through it,” Matt says.

Let’s face it: We all miss the folks of Hawkins, Indiana. So, thankfully, Stranger Things 2 is about to start production (!) and EW has some exclusive new details on season 2. The Netflix series, created by Ross and Matt Duffer, is adding three new characters, including someone who kind of sounds like the next Eleven. And two of the actors have very important connections to genre films influenced by the Duffers.

“This emphasis on play, on taking things and seeing what can be done with them, is more than a narrative principle of the show, however; it’s also a way of thinking about its underlying sociality.”

Netflix's Stranger Things is proving harder to kill than that creepy Demogorgon monster, and it's only going to grow now that Season 2 has officially been announced. The fan frenzy is a testament to the megahit's intricately layered details. While we've gone deep on many aspects of our favorite show from this summer, one element of the series' backstory bears closer examination: a real-life government experiment that inspired Stranger Things, known among paranormal buffs as the "Montauk Project.
