This theoretical engine could drastically reduce the cost of getting to space. Now two companies are trying to make it real.

After trying to fly the biggest plane in the world, Stratolaunch embarks on a new project called Talon-A. They’re developing a reusable rocket able to reach hypersonic speeds, Space News reports. The rocket will be used as part of commercial transportation, but the company would also reach a deal with the US government and especially the US Army. With hypersonic speeds, the rocket Talon-A could be particularly useful and effective in the context of solving offensive as defensive scenarios.
