Video appears to show Uber self-driving car running red light in SF
Uber launched a fleet of its much anticipated self-driving cars in San Francisco on Wednesday, and by late morning the effort already hit a bad-driver milestone: running a red light. A video obtained first by the San Francisco Examiner appears to show an Uber self-driving car running a red light downtown. These vehicles also have Uber drivers and engineers as backups at the wheel of the car, according to various news reports, leaving it unclear as to why no one simply hit the brakes. Uber did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tesla Model S driver caught sleeping at the wheel while on Autopilot
While daily commuters could relatively soon be able to fall asleep in their car and wake up at their destination, currently there’s no commercially available autonomous driving system that allow so little control over a vehicle – even Tesla’s fairly advanced semi autonomous system: the Autopilot. Yet it doesn’t stop people from abusing the technology as evidenced by a Tesla Model S driver caught on camera while apparently sleeping at the wheel. The Autopilot’s Autosteer and active cruise control appear to be moving the vehicle in heavy traffic while the driver is filmed looking like he is asleep in a GIF posted to Imgur earlier today.

Another Truck Hits That Massachusetts Bridge
The East Street Bridge is well-known to people in the small town of Westwood, but apparently it’s not well known to truck drivers. That’s because trucks slam into the low-lying bridge frequently, and yet, it keeps happening. On Thursday, August 20, it happened again. You can see the food distribution truck ram into the bridge, bursting into pieces. Despite lights and warnings signs, trucks continue to slam into the railroad bridge.
